About Dr. Brittany Rice

A grounded, compassionate approach to nervous system support and embodied healing

Dr. Brittany Rice, PhD, somatic practitioner and clinical psychologist, walking along the shoreline in flowing white linen at golden hour

My work is rooted in the belief that many people are carrying far more stress, emotional overwhelm, and nervous system burden than the world recognizes. Beneath anxiety, burnout, overwhelm, emotional reactivity, shutdown, perfectionism, chronic stress, and even many ADHD-related struggles, there is often a nervous system that has been trying to adapt, protect, and survive for a very long time.

I created this practice to offer support that feels more compassionate, embodied, and attuned to real lived experience.

My background bridges psychology, nervous system education, somatic awareness, maternal wellness, emotional health, and lived understanding of what it means to move through stress, transition, overwhelm, and healing. I am especially passionate about helping individuals better understand the connection between the mind, body, emotions, stress physiology, and daily life.

Over the years, I became increasingly drawn to the ways emotional experiences live within the body and nervous system, and how often people are taught to override themselves rather than understand themselves. Much of my work now centers helping clients reconnect with their bodies, build greater internal safety and awareness, and move toward more sustainable ways of living and functioning.

My approach is warm, grounded, relational, and practical. I do not believe healing comes from perfection, endless productivity, or pushing harder. I believe people often heal through greater understanding, support, nervous system steadiness, self-compassion, embodiment, and safe connection.

I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary, where my doctoral training included psychological theory, research, emotional health, and clinical work. My academic and professional background also includes teaching, research, program evaluation, and ongoing work exploring nervous system regulation, embodiment, stress physiology, ADHD, fertility, motherhood, grief, and emotional wellbeing.

In addition to my professional training, my work has also been shaped by personal experiences navigating stress, healing, overwhelm, identity shifts, and the profound relationship between nervous system regulation and overall wellbeing. Those experiences deepened my understanding of how important it is for people to feel emotionally safe, supported, and truly seen within the healing process.

Today, I work with individuals navigating overwhelm, burnout, ADHD-related stress, grief, life transitions, sensitive nervous systems, fertility journeys, pregnancy, motherhood, and emotional exhaustion. My work integrates nervous system education, somatic practices, emotional support, embodiment, and practical tools designed to help clients build greater steadiness and capacity in daily life.

I also speak, write, teach, and develop educational resources focused on nervous system regulation, embodiment, maternal wellness, emotional health, and compassionate approaches to healing and growth.

Above all, I want this work to help people feel less ashamed of their struggles and more connected to themselves, their bodies, and their capacity for healing.

Location & Availability

I am based in Bakersfield, where I work with clients through a small private practice setting focused on grounded, individualized support.

While rooted locally in California, much of my work is offered through secure online sessions, allowing me to support individuals across the United States and internationally where appropriate. Many clients find virtual sessions to be deeply personal, effective, flexible, and supportive within the realities of modern life.

My work is especially well-suited for individuals seeking thoughtful, nervous-system-informed support from the comfort and privacy of their own environment.

Whether nearby or across the world, the intention remains the same: creating a space that feels steady, compassionate, supportive, and deeply attuned.

A Gentle Note

My work is coaching and educational in nature and is not psychotherapy, medical treatment, or crisis care.
